What you were designed for, in food intake, is a menu of food input that some call the Paleolithic diet (Caveman Diet). Not really a diet, more just a list of acceptable foods that your inherited body program that it has learned to handle from "an ancestors perfected" system. It is the time-tested (30 billion predecessors in test) of (over a million years). Largest study of "what works". This is a "retro" lifestyle choice that many are now making because others switching to it already have found and verify that it is almost effortless, (less hassle) and WORKS long term. To adopt to this concept you have to adjust to a new life style, which means living the rest of your life (much longer) without bread, pasta, dairy products, peanuts, potatoes, sugar, soft drinks to name a few. This works because our bodies are preprogrammed to accept only certain foods - and those above are not on the inherited list of acceptable input. Those advocating this switch back believe that human genetics (programming for handling foods,) have hardly been changed at all, since the caveman era with huge changes coming only in the last 100 and particularly the last 50. The previous big switch, which man has not had the 50,000 generations they claim necessary for a diet switch happened 10,000 years ago with the advent of dairy and agriculture, (grains etc). Now, on top of this, the last 100 years this has been compounded by the modern diet of man made (fast) and processed foods To correct all of the ailments and huge "do it to yourself" health disaster, that has developed, is now fixed simply in short order simply by merely eating the foods our ancestors had our bodies adjusted to. - and we already have pre installed and perfected software for handling them, In contrast, modern foods are reacted to by your body as foreign dangerous substances and the bodies reaction is silent (unknown to you)
It is this "do it to yourself" reaction by your inherited survival system that worked for a million years, not adjusting to modern food and life style, and the bodies reaction to it, that kills over 80% of Americans.
– All other foods should be discarded . Mimicking our "caveman" ancestors calls for a diet high in proteins and fiber, low in carbohydrates and salt, and rich in nutrients such as essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants etc. Grains and potatoes for example are rejected from this "accepted list" as they contain toxins, high levels of sugar and starch (carbs) your body has not adjusted to handle and they are inedible when raw. (have toxins uncooked) Big surprise to most is that Dairy being considered unacceptable - it is a food that 85% of Americans have little ability to handle, (except some tolerance by a few of European ancestors had started to develop.) For the same reasons, your body not designed to handle it, the use of refined sugar is discouraged along with large quantities of salt. This of course all means saying goodbye forever to Candy,, ice cream and drinking food. The rest of your life, drink only water. Air out your home daily, more fresh air and quadruple your skin exposure to sunshine.(body regulating hormones controlled by sunshine exposure or lack thereof.) Overhall and reform your sleep system, Deliberate steps you force, (not just diet) yourself to do that become an automatic part of your everyday lifestyle change, Simple changes that get your body operating on the system it was designed for, not trying to force it to adjust to your idea of "what is normal". The Paleolithic diet is designed to have low levels of toxic foods and little adverse reactions as a result. The main and most important component of the diet or corner stone for most is meat, with your body operating on a fat burning system with 75% of your calories from fat, 20% from protein and 5% carbohydrates, mimicking what your ancestors reportedly ate. Keep in mind, most foods were eaten raw and the health problems really began with the introduction of cooking the majority of foods. The exact menu that will work for you varies naturally depending on what area of the world your ancestors came from. To tailor the menu personally, look at what your specific ancestors likely ate 1,000 years ago. For example, you will find no cheese at the Chinese buffet today because their ancestors had no dairy and their Asian area ancestors bodies handed down to today have little or no adjustment for dairy at all. Another example., when Asians started living in cities and dying from polluted city water supplies, survivors turned out to be those who boiled everything and drank tea etc. In contrast to Europe, alcohol was not part of the survival Asian adaptation to polluted water. Hence most Asians have inherited little or no tolerance for alcohol. In Europe the survivors of polluted city water systems were those who fermented everything and the alcohol byproduct killed the bacteria and Europeans started to develop some tolerance for alcohol. So the caveman formula is to get healthy by eating the food you were designed to eat and do not sweat the weight, it will fall off in a relatively short time, no hassle. There is a lot of controversy surrounding eating only the foods of our caveman ancestors, because most do not want to "stop doing" what they have always done. They just do not want to be modern day hunter-gatherers, as the system was known for over a million years. Many nutritionists just can not adjust to the idea that dairy and wheat based foods are inappropriate for our consumption based on inherited operating systems. The Paleolithic (Caveman) operating menu is finally gaining credit for its obvious health benefits. Those that adopt to this lifestyle diet and change for any period of time, usually do so well that few even consider ever going back to "the what was" namely the modern processed food diet. Food on this diet is more expensive then the cheap sugar flour calorie source but it requires remarkably smaller amounts of food because it has not been stripped of nutrients, Biggest noticed difference for those who switch to this life style, is that those fully on the restricted "personal ancestors menu" find many life time ailments go away, because your body is no longer constantly waging war with your food input.
