Eating What Your Ancestors Ate

There are many diets, such as Atkins etc that work for this purpose in cutting out sugar and flour, and ok to eat large amounts of fat etc and are basically low or few carbs.

The simplest menu and easiest from my experience, (and I thrive on this) to use with no reading, no keeping track no counting, no nothing to complicate your life, it is just look at what your particular ancestors ate 1000 years ago. If they did not eat it or could not have, then you avoid it.

Eat what your personal ancestors ate and thrived on with none of our Western Diet illnesses..

Your body will love it. Simple, never go hungry. Eat any time, as much as you want. Nothing to add, subtract or keep track of.

This can be researched for more information plus several good books on it, referred to as the Paleolithic Diet, I and most refer to it to keep it simple, as the Caveman Diet, also research under Hunter/Gatherer Diet.
It is really not a diet, more of just a what's on the list menu..

So What's to eat On This Simple Menu?
Here is a list from this type of menu...
Do eat:
  • Meat (and fat, fish, eggs)
  • Vegetables (and berries)
  • Limit Fruit (and eat lots of nuts) a few exceptions such as peanuts and cashews
  • No Dairy ( Except butter, full fat plain yogurt)
    Do not eat:
  • Dairy (milk, cheese,) Grains or corn (maize, wheat, barley, rice, etc.)
  • Starchy vegetables (potatoes, yams, beets, artichokes, etc.)
  • Sugar (refined)
  • Legumes (beans, soy products, peanuts, cashew, lentils, etc.)
  • Chemical food additives
  • No juices, (no drinking food)
No Salt (you should get more then enough in butter etc.)
No Processed foods (if it has a label, avoid it) Eat simple foods instead
No Artificial sweeteners (except Stevia) There is plenty of delicious food we can show you pictures of, recipes, etc and all sort of encouragement and sales pitch.

We are not going to do that. We have a lot of articles on the subject and really like many others, we should have a book to explain it. but there are plenty we can refer you to.

We are just going to give you some general formulas here to help you easily move from what was, to where you are going to go with your new life style and how to get up to speed.
Any new food supply and intake requires a lot of adjustments that really no one can make for you.
It will likely take you some time to work this all out to the max.
This is a gradual switch I would like to see you make overnight because I think it would be easier and more effective but doesn't usually happen that way.

Like the smoker who has been 20 years smoking.....and decides to suddenly quit, it is very difficult to handle. Yet tapering off and going down to a half pack a day and then 5 cigarettes a day and eventually none....well that just does not seem to work.

Yet others say here you have been eating a certain way for 50 years and you suddenly switch it. is very difficult for your body to adjust physically, so it may make sense to do this gradually over a few days or weeks.....

What you have been eating and you thought absolutely, that a certain food was the key to your health and well being, Likely it was not what you thought it was. but never the less, is part of your belief system.

So any switch now carry's with it, a doubt, can I survive on a different food?

You read a list of foods you need to give up and you can do that over a period of days or weeks. For example, giving up everything with sugar and flour this week and going from low or no fat to high fat will be a major change.

This will make some tremendous differences.

Your bodies operating system will adjust with out the later refinements, (such as dropping dairy eventually) which changes can be added gradually as you see how it is working for you.

Right now the goal is to simply switch your body operating system back to the "fat burning" machine, it was designed to be and has been for two million years.

The differences in change for a diabetic and an obese person are relatively small here initially.
The hard part to mentally adjust to is that you have been brain washed to believe that you must eat little fat or you will gain weight. Therefore you incorrectly believe that if you drop sugar and fat both (or at least still skimp on fat) you should be in even better shape. Not true.
The low fat diet (craze) plays a big part in the current obesity epidemic.

By totally dropping sugar and flour products right off, you will lower your carb input that has been a major part of your energy supply. You need to replace that with considerable fat input, and that is what turns on your fat burning operational mode...which is what man is designed for. This is the operational system for most of the year.

By large sugar intake and shorting your fat supply, your body thinks it is high sugar season where you DO NOT burn a speck of fat. If you starve yourself as in the usual calorie counting diets, even then you will not burn fat, you will only burn muscle mass.

The only way you switch your body to fat burning is by giving it high fat input. That and cutting off sugar input shuts off all making insulin hormone which is what has been stopping all fat burning.

You can now eat all the juicy fat steaks you like, bacon, all the nuts you can eat. avocados, etc.

With cutting off flour and sugar input, and eating low glycemic foods, only, and all the good fat (no trans fat etc) you can find, in 3 days your body should be switched from sugar burning system to fat burning.

Monitor your body adjustment closely.

When all is proceeding well you can continue to make changes in your food input.

General Rules For Food Switch.
Processed and refined food in a super market are in high traffic central areas.
You will find the natural foods you are switching to, are in the low traffic around the perimeter areas.
The definition of "live food" is food that still retains enzymes etc. Anything heated over 116 degrees is considered dead. Remember, learn to prepare and serve food raw as much as you can. Food that is picked locally and most recently has much higher enzyme content etc then food picked two weeks ago relatively green and ripen enroute and in the super market, turns out it is almost totally lacking in comparison.
Preferred method of cooking, steaming.

  1. Health
  2. Health
  3. Health

Simplified Rules For Food Purchases:

  • If your ancestors could not have gotten it with a sharp stick and a rock, do not buy it
  • Meat: If it did not run, swim or fly growing up, do not buy it.
  • If it will not rot, sprout or spoil, do not buy it.
The following is a short list example of Paleolithic food list, WE ARE NOT A BOOK. (what your ancestors ate, you will thrive on.)
No drinks other then water, tea and chocolate, with no milk or sweetener added. Diabetics need to cut out fruits, obese and pre diabetics go easy on fruit. Diabetics, no root vegetables including potatoes. Obese, easy on root vegetables and NO potatoes.
Eat all of the following you want any time. Add as much grass fed butter as you want. Flax Seed Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, (easy) Coconut Oil, Cod Liver Oil

Asparagus, Avocados, Mushrooms, Green leafy and colored vegetables, such as cabbage, the more colorful the better. Squash, Diabetics, only raw carrots and onions. Nuts, especially walnuts, brazil nuts, almonds, etc. No peanuts, no cashews. Only grains, quino, amaranth, and buckwheat. Only Dairy, Full fat 18% or better plain yogurt live culture and (preferably grass fed) butter. Meat and eggs, as much as you want, no preserved or processed, smoked etc. preferable range raised, grass fed. Fish, wild, no farm raised, beware of mercury hazard. Sardines etc recommended. Dark Chocolate, no sugar.

Do not read labels, if it has one do not buy it. it is processed food.
The Real Problem You Must Overcome, No Matter How Far You Get On Getting On the Caveman Food System Or Any Other Diet.

Obese and Diabetics...remember, cutting out refined sugar and flour are crucial and anything high glycemic, (gets in blood stream fast in digesting) should be eliminated, It is high blood sugar PEAKS that turns on high insulin, as well as setting you up for and causes diabetic damage. It is PEAKS that cause the Insulin production and fat storing. Remember, eating fat does not make high insulin, fat storing hormone and does not get made into body fat.

Fat can be used for all energy needs, and then high sugar goes immediately to body fat, or diabetic damage, since sugar storing muscles are full up on energy. No sugar, means no insulin fat making hormone to suppress it. RESULT: no stored body fat.
